Heads Up

Read Leviticus 26:1 through 27:34

Does your situation make you want to hang your head and cry? Sin, sickness, and society all add a pressure that can make a person feel ashamed and helpless.

“I am the Lord your God, who brought you out of Egypt so that you would no longer be slaves to the Egyptians; I broke the bars of your yoke and enabled you to walk with heads held high” (Leviticus 26:13).

The first steps of freedom were not what the Israelites expected when they left Egypt. They looked at the vast wilderness and wondered if God had not rescued them from one enemy just to let them be swallowed up by another. War. Dehydration. Starvation. Everywhere they looked they faced problems. God fought their battles and provided for them. Even while they were in the desert, He wanted them to hold their heads high because they were a free people, headed to a Promised Land.

Like the Children of Israel, the child of God newly freed from the bondage of sin may encounter unexpected situations. Trust must rest solidly on God’s character and His ability to protect, provide, and lead.

Prayer Suggestion: Lord, I humble my heart and lift my head to You.
